North West. No plans to incorporate rail

The state government has not explained how it plans to incorporate trains from the North West Rail Link into the rest of the network, in the wake of criticism of the line by the federal infrastructure adviser. Parramatta. Call for light rail funds

Parramatta Lord Mayor, Lorraine Wearne, has called on the federal government to divert part of the $2.1 billion originally set aside for the $8.5 billion Parramatta to Epping rail-link, to help further the development of a Western Sydney Light Rail network. The proposal would improve access to employment in Westmead, Parramatta CB, Macquarie Park and have links to the University of Western Sydney and Macquarie University. It also aims to improve regional connections across Western Sydney, including Castle Hill, Bankstown, Liverpool, Blacktown and Sydney Olympic Park.

Camellia. Objection to waste DA

Parramatta City Council will lodge an objection with the Department of Planning and Infrastructure to the DA for the Remondis Alternate Waste Treatment Facility, at 1 Grand Avenue, Camellia on the grounds of future plans for the Camellia precinct, due to the high levels on contamination on the site and the general unsuitability of the proposed usage of the site. The facility would process up to 100,000 tonnes annually of commercial and industrial waste, and 50,000 tonnes annually of food and green waste.The site, previously occupied by James Hardie Industries, is owned by the Billbergia Group Pty Ltd. The estimated construction cost: $25 million.
