Parramatta. Jim's back on board

Jim Bosnjak, former owner of the Parramatta-based Westbus transport company and deputy chairman of the West Sydney Razorbacks basketball team, which pulled out of the National Basketball League several years ago, is on the board of the Sydney Kings which will re-enter the competition in October.

Kings Park. Noni B's net profit up 68 per cent

Kings Park women’s fashion retailer Noni B’s loyal customer base and focus on the 40-plus women’s market appears to have paid off, with the retailer recording a 68 per cent rise in full-year net profit to $3.9 million for the year to June. The result was helped by the company’s focus on controlling margins and costs, according to The Australian Financial Review.

Quakers Hill. $19 million expansion

Minister for Transport, John Robertson, opened the Quakers Hill carpark with more than 200 spaces. Over the coming weeks, new CCTV surveillance cameras will be installed in line with construction activities currently underway for the upgrade of Quakers Hill Station. The carpark and the station upgrade represents an investment of more than $19 million, Mr Robertson said. “In addition, the NSW Government’s $230 million duplication of the Richmond Line between Quakers Hill and Schofields, currently underway, will mean extra train services for Quakers Hill commuters,” he said.

Parramatta. Wide Bay rights issue expected

Queensland-based listed regional bank, Wide Bay Australia, which has its one NSW branch located in Parramatta, is expected to announce a rights issue for institutional investors. The proceeds will be used to fund an expansion.

Wentworthville. EOI in Wenty Mall

Expressions of interest in the sale of The Mall Wentworthville close on October 28. The recently refurbished neighbourhood shopping centre with a total GLA of 5467 square metres features a Franklins supermarket, 30 specialty retailers and commercial offices. The centre has an income of approximately $1.7 million annually fully leased. A DA has been approved for 67 residential units and an additional 500 square metres of retail floor space.

Parramatta. Doubling bus service

Minister for Transport, John Robertson, has announced the new Metrobus Route M54 connecting Parramatta, Carlingford, Epping, Macquarie University and Macquarie Park, will start operating from Sunday, October 10. The number of services will increase from 385 to 840 per week, providing capacity for an extra 26,000 passengers.

Region. Top award for Quest chairman

Paul Constantinou, chairman, of Quest Serviced Apartments, which has a number of properties in Western Sydney, has been awarded an ACES (Attitude, Commitment, Enthusiasm and Service) Award at the HMAA Awards for Excellence 2010. Since opening the first Quest property in Melbourne in 1988, the brand has grown to become the largest serviced apartment provider in Australasia with more than 125 properties in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. The current or proposed properties in the region are at Castle Hill, Campbelltown, North Ryde, Sydney Olympic Park and Rosehill.
