Parramatta. Consultation on West Metro

Minister for Transport, David Campbell, said community consultation would now get underway for the West Metro project, a 24-kilometre underground rail link between Central and Westmead. “We will now start talking to the community, councils, businesses and other stakeholders about station locations, construction sites and the detailed corridor. The Environmental Assessment will be put on public exhibition for community comment next year.” Mr Campbell said

Parramatta. $500,000 cheque handed over

The Federal Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson, has presented Parramatta City Council with a cheque for $500,000 for tourism development in the city. “This Federal funding is the start of a journey of tourism development in Parramatta,” said deputy Lord Mayor, Clr Lorraine Wearne, who said the funding would be used for the design and development of a series of tourism trails that connect key heritage sites across the city. “The funding will also go towards investigating the development of tourism products such as tours, events, and activities which will actively encourage visitors to extend their stay and encourage them to come back to visit Parramatta,” she said.

Riverstone. Riverstone West rezoned

The NSW Government has formally rezoned the Riverstone West Precinct, the first employment precinct within the North West Growth Centre to be completely planned. The precinct has land with the potential for over 12,000 new jobs. The North West Growth Centre is within the boundaries of three local government areas - The Hills, Blacktown and Hawkesbury. The growth centre, comprising 16 precincts, is approximately 10,000 hectares and will contain about 70,000 new homes.
