Kingswood. High-rise on the highway

A 9-storey mixed-use building is proposed on the Great Western Highway, at Kngswood, with commercial and retail space plus 61 residential units and underground parking for 118 vehicles. The project is along the Kingswood retail strip and adjacent to the Kingswood Hotel. The project has the potential to attract as residents professionals and students at the nearby Nepean Hospital and UWS campus. Council said the project would provide an eastern gateway to Kingswood and add incentive for future redevelopment of the remainder of the commercial strip.

Emu Plains. $5.8m substation boosts capacity

The completion of Integral Energy’s Emu Plains $5.8 million zone substation is expected to meet the area’s growing energy demands. The project involved the installation of new electrical infrastructure to increase the capacity of the substation. “Emu Plains has experienced a huge growth over the past 15 years, due to increased residential and commercial development. There is significant additional land to the north of the Emu Plains zone substation available for development to continue this trend,” the Minister for Energy, Ian Macdonald, said.

Castle Hill. Rotary recognises 'achievers'

The Castle Hill Rotary Club has awarded this year’s Pride in Workmanship Awards to four “quiet achievers”, namely, John Binney, a green keeper who developed the Rouse Hill Anglican College,180- hectare site; Anne Bishop, an employee of Castle Hill’s Health Information Pharmacy, for customer service; Mary Knight,, recently- retired as secretary for The Hills Shire Council for her efficiency, professionalism and integrity; and Jillian Rose, employed at Castle Hill Post Office for 19 years, for her efficiency and knowledge.
