Region. Economy takes toll on warehouses

Firms seeking to consolidate storage costs are pushing warehouse space onto the market and, in some cases, opting for smaller self-managed storage facilities. Jordan Mailman, of Jones Lang LaSalle, said business across all industries in Western Sydney, with dwindling inventories were trying to cut costs by subleasing space, or absorbing their operations into other satellite facilities, according to The Australian Financial Review.

Campbelltown. Bulky goods centre for sale

A well-positioned bulky goods retail centre, on a 1.73-hectare site in Blaxland Road, Campbelltown, is for sale at $12 million. The centre has Domayne as its anchor tenant, plus six complimentary specialty retailers. Parking is for.170 vehicles. Net income fully leased is approximately $1.2 million. EOI close on June 11 with Jones Lang LaSalle.

Penrith. 1000-space commuter car park

A $22.6 million three-storey car park will be built to accommodate 1000 vehicles on part of the 50-hectare former Army land, north of the Penrith railway station. The project is expected to be built by the end of 2010. Landcom, which is negotiating with the Defence Department to buy the site, includes 1100 homes, open space and commercial buildings in its plans.

Region. New executive director of WSROC

Terry McCormack has been appointed executive director, of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) following the resignation of Noel Child. Mr McCormack was formerly executive director, of WestPool a co-operative local government self insurance scheme and former GM, of Blacktown City Council.

Parramatta. Sydney Water attracts business

A major supplier to Sydney Water, MWH Australia Pty Ltd, which specialises in transport, water engineering and consultancy services, is moving 40 staff from St Leonards to Parramatta, following the relocation of the utility’s head office from the Sydney CBD to Parramatta.
