Strategic centres growth

Highlights of the recently released draft West Central subregional strategy include strengthening Parramatta's role as a "riverfront regional city", planning for the continuing development of Westmead as a specialised centre and planning for a broader range of roles for Sydney Olympic Park.

Along with Parramatta, Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park, Bankstown and Prairiewood have been identified as strategic centres for future growth in the draft which covers the the Auburn, Bankstown, Fairfield, Holroyd and Parramatta LGAs.

The strategy provides capacity for 61,000 new jobs and 95,000 new dwellings by 2031, of which the Parramatta LGA's employment target capacity is 27,000 jobs and 21,000 target dwellings.

The draft strategy is on public exhibition in local council offices mentioned and the department of Planning until March 28.
